The outer tea box and the inner tea pack have different jobs. An outer box arranges and presents the product; the specified inner pack and closure are central to assessing exposure to moisture, air and odors.
Record how the remaining tea is stored after opening the inner pack. A decorative window or rigid outer box does not substitute for the specification of the layer intended to provide the barrier.
Protective functions to review
Identify which layer is intended to provide the barrier. Ask for specifications and testing appropriate to the actual tea, storage conditions and distribution plan.
Check how the box supports the inner packs during handling and whether an opened pack can be closed as intended. Avoid assigning a shelf-life benefit to appearance alone.
